The Mayor Rural Development Foundation on Saturday, December 12, 2025, organized a one-day free medical outreach dedicated to elderly residents of Igbide Community in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State. The initiative, targeted at individuals aged 45 and above, aimed to bridge the healthcare gap often experienced by aged rural dwellers. The outreach, held at the community pavilion, witnessed a large turnout of elderly men and women who benefitted from a wide range of essential health services. These included free medical consultations, routine health screenings, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, distribution of essential medications, and health education sessions focused on preventive care and lifestyle management. Speaking during the event, the Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Honourable Ovoke Warri Friday, commended the Foundation for what he described as a “timely and impactful” intervention. He emphasized that the initiative was in line with his administration’s health development agenda, which prioritizes grassroots healthcare access. “This outreach supports our broader commitment to improving the wellbeing of all residents, especially the elderly who often face barriers accessing healthcare services. We sincerely appreciate the Mayor Rural Development Foundation for this noble gesture,” he said. Also present at the programme was the Ovie of Igbide Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Patrick Okpomo Agre I, who lauded the Foundation for extending free medical support to members of his kingdom. The monarch noted that such interventions not only improve health outcomes but also strengthen community bonds and demonstrate genuine commitment to human development. In the same vein, the Supervisory Councillor for Health in Isoko South LGA, Hon. Manu Chris, expressed gratitude to the Foundation, describing the outreach as an exemplary community-driven initiative. Other community leaders and beneficiaries echoed similar sentiments, praising the organizers for their generosity and dedication. Representing the Foundation, Chief Johnson Akienabor, Head of Administration, and Mrs. Elizabeth Akienabor, the Programme Coordinator, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to improving the quality of life of rural dwellers. They noted that the outreach forms part of a broader vision to ensure that underserved communities across Delta State have access to essential healthcare services. “Our goal is to consistently deliver impactful programmes that directly improve the health and wellbeing of people in rural areas. Today’s turnout shows the importance of such initiatives, and we remain committed to sustaining them,” Mrs. Akienabor stated. The Igbide medical outreach adds to the growing list of health-focused interventions undertaken by the Mayor Rural Development Foundation in recent years.
